Abstract

This study pays attention to the process of integration of subject knowledge teaching with the study of Russian as a foreign language. The main goal of this work is to form students’ professional competencies as well as the ability to communicate fluently in Russian. To achieve this goal, the language skill of undergraduate elementary education students was systematically evaluated. The methods of observation as well as diagnostic testing of students’ language level were used. The integrated approach to subject and language teaching promotes the development of students’ cognitive abilities, which contributes to the training of qualified specialists. The results of this study are recommended to be implemented in higher education institutions to improve the quality of education.
