ASSESSMENT OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE CITY AS A RESULT OF USING THE NORMALIZED DIFFERENCE VEGETATION INDEX (NDVI)

Abstract

The subject of the study of this work was the green zones of the city of Osh. The article presents a study to assess the state of greening in the city of Osh using the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI). Green areas play an important role in ensuring environmental balance and improving the quality of life of city residents. Therefore, the purpose of the study was to determine the state and quality of landscaping in the city of Osh and the distribution of green spaces throughout the city. The research methods were carried out using remote sensing methods, satellite images and the photosynthetically active biomass index (NDVI) calculated on their basis. The results show that NDVI can be an effective indicator of the health and quality of urban green spaces. The proposed method can be useful for the management and planning of urban green infrastructure, as well as for monitoring changes in the condition of green spaces over time.
