Abstract

This article discusses the traditions and events associated with the post-wedding rites of the Uzbeks in Osh city. After the wedding ceremony, Uzbeks retain special customs that represent an important element in the social and cultural life of the community. The study pays attention to such aspects as “post-wedding receptions”, mutual visits of relatives of the bride and groom, rituals associated with the transfer of newlyweds to the husband’s family, as well as the symbolic meaning of gifts and treats. Particular attention is paid to the process of integration of the bride into a new family and her role in strengthening family ties. The main functions of these customs have been identified, such as strengthening family and neighborly relations, maintaining cultural identity and transferring traditional values. By analyzing these practices, one can see how they reflect the values of respect for tradition, family and community as a whole. The article is based on field research, interviews with residents of the Osh city, as well as an analysis of ethnographic sources, which allows us to obtain a comprehensive understanding of the transformation and preservation of post-wedding rituals in modern conditions.
