DESIGNATIONS AND DIFFERENCES OF THE THE SLEEVELESS VEST – TRADITIONAL CLOTHES OF THE KYRGYZ PEOPLE

Abstract

In this work, the subject of the research is the sleeveless vest, as the traditional clothing of the Kyrgyz people, which is considered a common type of clothing in Central Asia. The purpose of the research is to identify the designations of the sleeveless vests, as well as the differences in their form, shape, and stitching. Based on the analysis of the literature and a survey, we identified the following designations: zhelek, zheletke, zhelegei, opko kap, camzol, kemzur, kemsal, kamzur, beshbel, beshmant, chyptama, chermiy, pinjek, pinchek, kaltacha, karmooch, kokurokcho, koltuk, jelek, bortonoy , kurmo. However, based on an in-depth analysis of historical sources, it was found, that there are differences in their shapes, lengths, design, and the emergence of new forms over time led to the appearance of new designations. Thus, the purpose of the article is to study the terms for sleeveless clothing, types of clothing, their differences and utilitarian functions.
