ECOLOGICAL AND ECONOMIC DAMAGE CAUSED BY RODENTS IN OSH CITY

Abstract

The subject of research in this work is the ecological-economic damage, caused by rodents in Osh city. The purpose of the work is: to determine the size of environmental and economic damage, caused by rodents in Osh city. Capturing and counting small rodents was carried out using “Gero” traps, used in zoological research. The main habitat of rodents is the markets along the Ak-Buura River, which contribute to the growth the number of moisture-loving rodents. Rodents give the greatest preference to flour products. In the period from 2016 to 2023y., the cost of rodent control in Osh amounted to 24.362,113 KGS. The cost of vaccination of victims of rat bites in Osh from 2018 to 2022 amounted to 1.009,650 KGS. It is necessary to constantly monitor rodents for the presence of infections and infestations in order to avoid worsening of epidemiological situation in Osh city.
