Abstract

The subject of the study is the classical theory and methodology of the concept of poverty. The purpose of the study is to determine the classical theory and methodology of the concept of poverty. In the process of work, methods of deduction and induction were used, as well as various indicators and criteria for determining poverty. This article is devoted to the analysis of the methodology for determining poverty in households. The main foreign and domestic theoretical approaches to the study of the concept of poverty are considered. Special attention is paid to the historical stages of the study of poverty and the problems associated with its solution. The important key concepts in the article are absolute and relative poverty. Various aspects of the population's life, such as current expenses, food consumption and socio-demographic composition, are considered to determine the level of poverty. Special attention is paid to the use of the threshold value of the poverty line, which makes it possible to classify categories of the population  those in need of assistance. The study of the methodology for determining poverty makes it possible to identify cause-and-effect relationships and identify ways to reduce poverty in the country On the basis of the conducted research, the relevant conclusions were drawn.
