RESEARCH ACTIVITIES OF STUDENTS TAKING INTO ACCOUNT COGNITIVE STYLES

Abstract

The relevance of the study is due to the need to assess the impact of cognitive styles on students’ research activities. In this regard, this article is aimed at identifying the influence of students’ behavioral patterns, taking into account their cognitive styles, on the quality and quantity of scientific papers. The leading method of researching this problem was a survey of respondents, which allowed the collection of versatile and multifaceted data on students’ cognitive styles and research activities, forming the basis for further analyses and conclusions.  The results of the article represent the theoretical basis of the study: the concept of research activity is disclosed, its aspects and effects on students’ skills and research environment are listed, the presumed effects of different cognitive styles on the research process are given, the classification of cognitive style pairs used in the work is provided. The empirical part of the study reveals quantitative and qualitative indicators of students’ research activities, the data are analyzed and comprehended: the relationship between the quantity and quality of scientific papers is revealed; the distribution of cognitive styles among Kyrgyz students is revealed, the indicators of quality and quantity of scientific papers are compared with cognitive style: behavioral patterns inherent in the holders of different types of thinking are revealed, the strengths and weaknesses of each type in the context of scientific research are substantiated.
