Abstract

The article analyzes some views on the problem of the epic genre in Kyrgyz folklore as a subject of research, and also discusses the issue of similarities between Kyrgyz and Altai folklore. The purpose of the study is to distinguish between common and archaic motifs in the epics of these two peoples and to compare their typological similarities. The study used methods of comparison, typing, description and classification. The results of the study focus on common epic works of Kyrgyz and Altai folklore. The scientific value of the results is characterized by a modern approach to the folklore of the Kyrgyz and Altaians, revealed in the analysis of genre types, the relationship between them, typical features, similarities and differences. The results obtained and the analyzed materials can be used in teaching philological specialties in secondary schools, vocational schools and universities. A promising study of the topic involves the use of the conclusions of the article in the further deepening of the oral folk literature of the Kyrgyz and Altai peoples among the genres.
